Is Simulated Oral Sex too much for night time TV? Or was it that it was GAY Simulated Oral Sex?

So a week ago Sunday, on the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert (Out Gay Rocker from American Idol's last season) performed a dressed S&M version of his new single, "For Your Entertainment."

He gyrated, led a dancer around by a leash, simulated oral sex with another male dancer, and kissed his male keyboardist. Oh, and he sang it like a rock star.

As you might expect, ABC got "flooded" with 1,500 complaints the next morning, much of it orchestrated by the Parents Television Council, whose Melissa Henson said their protest wasn't about Adam's gay kiss. It was about the simulated oral sex.

"The gender has nothing to do with it," Henson said. "It would be true if it had been a woman's face that was thrust into his crotch."

As for Adam, he said:

“People are scared and it’s really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it’s all for a laugh, it’s really not that big of a deal.”

Good Morning America canceled Adam's scheduled appearance last Wednesday in response, but Adam was picked up by its rival The Early Show on CBS.

So I ask you - Did Adam go too far? If it had been a girl dancer he "stimulated oral sex" with, would anyone have cared?

What about that Gay kiss? Do you buy that they didn't mind it? If so, was Adam a genius by making the issue the "simulated oral sex" and having everyone accept the gay kiss?

Kris Allen finally becomes MY American Idol - in how he reacts to Adam Lambert's thinking he's hot!

American Idol champ Kris Allen says he is "flattered" that runner-up and former Idol roommate Adam Lambert found his good looks "distracting."

"I'm flattered," Allen told People. "And think it's hilarious."

In the same Rolling Stone interview in which he said he's gay, Lambert described his reaction to the news that he would be rooming with Allen: "I was like, 'Oh, s--t, they put me with the cute guy.' Distracting!" Lambert said. "He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."

This is how the world changes, people! When a straight guy realizes that a gay guy finding him attractive isn't threatening, but a compliment!

Kris, in this simple comment, you've become a huge Ally to the GLBTQ community.

Adam Lambert comes OUT as GAY - part 1

Hurray!

Though I wish he'd come out DURING the show, I'm glad he finally stood up and (evidently) said it.

I heard that his mother revealed that there was a contractual agreement with the producers of American Idol that they wouldn't discuss Adam's being gay during the run of the show, but in this article it sounds like he's saying it was his decision...

And what is up with the SNAKE (photoshopped in or not) in the cover photo??? That is an interesting... um, CHOICE. What the heck? Is the snake by Adam's crotch some sort of commentary on the dangers of coming out? being gay? Or is it supposed to be sexy, in a straight-culture kind of way? Or is it a nod to the purported "choice" in being gay - saying being gay is a kind of garden of Eden temptation?

One more time, everyone. There is NO CHOICE in whom your body and spirit find attractive. The CHOICE is whether or not you're going to be honest about who you are attracted to.

All in all, I can't wait to read the article...

Kris Allen: It feels good, man, but um, Adam deserves this.

Yes he does.

Sigh.

Oh, America. What the Hell? Kris is cute and a good singer, but Adam is a star and an AMAZING SINGER!

I guess the best revenge will be that Adam will end up being the biggest star that was ever on American Idol.

And I'll be first in line to download all his songs!

I guess we'll get back to "Hope" tomorrow.

I want to just get this question out of the way first, something that's been dangling a bit over you for the whole season: Would you like to put to rest all the speculation about your sexuality?
It's not dangling over my head. [Laughing] It may be dangling over yours, but it's not over mine. Yeah, I think speculation keeps things really interesting.

So you don't want to say anything one way or the other?

Okay, so there's a lot of buzzing about how Adam Lambert was in the bottom two this week despite blowing everyone away with his performance, and there's quite a bit of speculation about there being some kind of PLOT where religious right (and anti-gay) voters are massing their votes for everyone else to get Adam voted off the show...

Never mind who's the best singer (Danny's good, but IMHO Adam is better) in many ways American Idol is a popularity and role model contest. Just like Miss California not wanting to represent ALL of of the U.S.A. (revealed through her anti-same-gender marriage answer to Perez Hilton's question), there's a role model element to being The American Idol, no matter how much Randy reminds us every week that

"Dawg, this is a singing competition!"

So, Dawgs, what do you think?

Were pro-Adam viewers so confident that everyone else was going to vote for him that he nearly got eliminated due to complacency?

Or is there a right-wing conspiracy targeting Adam because they don't want "The American Idol" - a "star," held up as an "idol" to the world, to be a gay man?

And if there is an anti-gay, anti-Adam plot at work, what do you think we should do about it?

Once again American Idol (much as I love the show) allows us to look at the heterosexist machinery of FAME. And I'm not talking about Paula's comments about Kris shopping in the women's department - uh, Simon, I think she meant for SONGS, not for underwear. But thanks for taking it to that awkward place. Kudos to Kris for laughing it off! What I DO mean is this:



Kris Allen can be "HOT," even though the masses of women (and men who are Gay and Bi) in America know they can't have him. They want to believe that Kris is singing to them, and they fantasize they are the object of his affection. BUT HE'S NOT REALLY AVAILABLE.

So if Adam Lambert came out as GAY and talked about his boyfriend like Kris talks about his wife (not a lot, but enough to let everyone know what's what), what calamity would befall him?



Suddenly, I suppose, all the masses of women (and gay and bi men) in America would know they can't have him. They want to believe that Adam is singing to them, and they fantasize they are the object of his affection. BUT HE'S NOT REALLY AVAILABLE, EITHER.

What's the difference, exactly? So are women watching Kris thinking,

I'll make him leave his wife for me!

Is that much more realistic than watching an OUT and gay Adam and thinking,

I'll make him leave his boyfriend for me!

Is the disappointment of fans that Kris is unavailable different than the disappointment of fans that Adam is unavailable?

I'm sure I can't be the only one who's noticed the show's soft-pedal on Kris' wife. Heck, they're practically NEWLYWEDS, and it's not something that comes up a lot on the show. I'm thinking that's on purpose. They wouldn't want to ruin anyone's fantasy now, would they?

Would actually saying

"I'm Gay"

cost Adam the Title of "American Idol," because then people couldn't pretend they might someday get it on with him?

Doesn't this blow away the whole "reasoning" for why someone shouldn't come out on the show?

Or am I missing something here?
