I just stayed up reading this book last night! I loved it. I loved Xio -- her exuberance, her good humor, her totally realistic pursuit of Frederick as a boyfriend. I was right with her. As for Frederick, I thought his gradual realization that he may be gay is very well-done, not too fast, not too slow. The book is both realistic and optimistic. I think a lot of readers from about 5th grade and up -- both boys and girls, regardless of orientation -- would enjoy this story about friendshipsand first love.

you know, I loved the idea of this book, but as it happens with all of the books by Alex Sanchez that I read, it disappointed me. There was so much potential, then it just kind of petered out.
