The 2013 Comment Challenge!

MotherReader and I welcome you to the networking, community-building, 21 days to form-a-great-new-habit, wonderful way to kick off the New Year with your kid lit blogging community...

THE 2013 COMMENT CHALLENGE!

So here's how it works:

For 21 days in a row (from today, January 11 through Thursday January 31) leave at least five comments on different kid lit blogs a day.  Five a day, and research shows that in 21 days you'll have a new habit. (And elementary school math shows that you'll have left 105 comments - but we'll give you one day off, so the goal is 100 comments!)

Where do you find blogs to comment on?

The sign up list below is one great place to start.  You can also check out the blogrolls on blogs you visit, and the kidlitosphere lists offer many many many blogs to choose from!

Why do it?

Participating in the Comment Challenge is a great way to connect with our Kid Lit Community, and let's face it - it's easy to just be consumers of content and not interact.  But interaction - contributing to the conversation - is really what takes things to the next level!  Oh, and there will be some randomly chosen prize winners...

Get motivated!

We'll be doing week one and week two check-ins at MotherReader's blog on Friday January 18 and Friday January 25, and then a final how-did-you-do post here on January 31st!

Ready to get started?

Add your name to the Mr. Linky tool below!  (And of course, you're welcome to leave a comment here to add your voice to the fun - and then you'll only have 99 comments to go!)

Here's to a great 2013 Comment Challenge for us all!

Comment On,
Lee

Yippeee! I've been waiting for this to start! I joined last year and had a ball. I "met" lots of new people (Hi Joanna!) and made some lasting connections.

Thanks for hosting again, Lee and MotherReader!

Y'all are right - it's time to get back into good habits, supporting other fans and friends of YA lit.

Back for a second year,
Katy

Thanks, Lee. This sounds like a wonderful way to get to know other kidlit writers!

"...it's easy to just be consumers of content and not interact." I read this past year that ninety-one percent of Internet activity is consumption. Eight percent is interaction, and one percent is production. If true, it's kind of mind-boggling, given how much stuff has been produced for the Internet

I guess this means I have to come out of my hobbit hole? This is a great idea, though, and an excellen antidote to trollery and all the sad press given to trollery.

Oh goody! Comment challenge is my favorite time of year. I only wish that I'd known about it on Friday!

My goal is 10 comments a day! :)

I'm a little late in the game, but I think I can catch up. Commenting more regularly on blogs is something I've been meaning to do anyway, and this seems like a great opportunity to not only get in the habit, but discover new book blogs.
