Aaron Huey's Remarkable TED Talk on America's Native Prisoners Of War

This is harrowing. Fascinating. So important.

Watch it.

Turns out, like GLBTQ history, Native People's histories until now have told by the winners. The majority. The oppressors.

The people that take the best part of the meat.

This is not the history I learned in school, but I'm glad I'm finally learning it now.

Who wrote the history you've learned?

Thanks to Pat Kahn for sharing this with me, so I could share it with you.
Namaste,
Lee

Thank you for sharing this. Fascinating indeed, and yes, harrowing.

Life on the modern reservation is less than noble. 'Prisoners of War' is fitting.

Again, thanks.

Thanks C.,
and for everyone - interestingly enough, in today's New York Times, there's an article about that mass execution of 38 Dakota Native Americans, saying that one of them was wrongly executed... with "Senator Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat who sits on the Committee on Indian Affairs, issued a statement last week signaling that he might move the issue forward."

Hopefully Senator Franken will watch this video, too, and dig deeper into the true history of what happened.
