This is such a beautiful novel! I think the best word to describe it is haunting. It's been a couple years since I read it, but I remember just aching for the main character and wanting so much for him to heal and find love. The author does a brilliant job at using Southern Gothic and ghost story conventions as metaphors for the main character's trauma. This book really inspired my own writing of trauma, and I liberally stole from it for my own book, Beautiful. I can't recommend this book enough!

Wow. I've got to read this novel. I work at a school and there was a big issue with some bisexual boys, that got out of hand. The school wanted to call the police and I had to intervene, so that one of the kids didn't get branded a sexual deviant. It was a big mess. I learned a lot about gay/bisexual boys from that experience. This book sounds awesome. Thanks for putting it out there.
