You can have the most beautiful blog (or flower),
but if it's all alone, and no one sees it,
it isn't living up to its potential.

But connect the flower to the jungle around it
- connect your blog to the kid lit community surrounding it -
and suddenly the beauty is seen, enjoyed, and expanded exponentially!

Great idea! It occurred to me, after I posted my New Year reflections that I should have resolved to comment more. I follow so many wonderful blogs and get so many amazing recommendations. This is a great community.
Thanks for getting me motivated. Now, what can you do for my lack of resolve when it comes to exercise?
I have to say that I have met the nicest writers while leaving comments and blogging. This is an amazing community!
I have a feature on fridays where I interview a fellow writer or author, to find out where they are in their journey. It's my way to find out a little more about all these wonderful people I "meet" in the blogosphere. Check it out!

Woo hoo! Just signed up on Mother Reader, but wanted to also thank you for co-hosting!
I'm off to start the commenting! :)
I found you via the challenge - it's such a great idea to set this up, and so far (yes, I know it's only day one!) I'm loving it - have already discovered a couple of new blogs, and revisted a couple more that I hadn't been to for ages. This is going to be fun!
I will do my best to comment. I'm glad I started reading your blog in 2009.
What a great challenge! I love your flower analogy. (I'm really tempted to steal it.) Thanks for hosting.
My first comment in the challenge, I'm bored of the CAPTCHAs already! I'm sure get over it by day 21.
Thanks for getting this all organised.
This is a great idea, Lee. The kick-in-the-pants I needed. Thank you!
I LOVE that you and MotherReader are doing this. What a great way to encourage community!!
I look forward to taking part!Thx!
Hi Lee, I signed up at MR's blog, but I wanted to stop by to say hello here, too. Thanks for co-hosting this!
Thanks for hosting this wonderful comment challenge. I'm looking forward to discovering some new kidlit blogs to read and catching up with some of the others I haven't read in a while.
Yay my second comment! Signed up at MotherReader. So excited!
Thank you both for hosting!
And now I will go spew exclamation points elsewhere.
Just signed up. Thanks so much for doing this, Lee! I love your energy!
WOW - thanks everyone so far. And all of your blogs are all a great place to start commenting...
Kathy, in Hollywood it's called "liberating" an idea, not "stealing." So go ahead... a flower analogy is just a flower analogy, I'm sure you can make it your own!
Kimberly, your line "spewing exclamation points everywhere" had me LMAO.
Thanks to all, and Happy Commenting!
Namaste,
Lee
Yay! What a great idea! Happy commenting!!! :-)
Thanks for helping to promote community, a wonderful way to start a new year!
This is a great idea! Thanks to you and Pam for hosting. I especially love that the first day falls on my school's snow day! Commenting here I come!
I signed up on Mother Reader's but I wanted to leave a comment here too. I'm glad you guys came up with this challenge. It's a great way to get to know more writers in this great community!
Okay... I've never been by here. HI! That's the wonderful thing about challenges, eh? I think I'll poke around for a bit now.
I just signed up for this challenge at Mother Reader. I guess this will be my second comment for today. It is a great big Thank You for getting me off my butt and out of my shell to start talking to the people I admire so much. I, too, love your flower analogy. Off to the next website.
I already signed up at Mother Reader, but I just wanted to thank you for organizing this wonderful challenge!
All my very best,
Kim
Lee, signed up on MR's blog. Thanks for organizing this with her. It will be great! It will also make me blogged more. School schedule has been wacky and hard to get my Wed feature in for some reason.
I'm so glad the Comment Challenge is back. And perfect timing after the holidays (too many days away from all of it!).
You guys rock!
I agree with Jolie. Great way to start the new year after a long blogcation!
I'm in! Found the 2010 Comment Challenge from Heather Kelly's blog. This will be fun.
What a great initiative. I'm excited about this. Thanks, Lee! :)
Excellent idea. I'm all signed up and rearing to go :)
Great idea! I signed up on Mother's site. :) Great photos!
You have a great looking blog. I found you after following your link from "MotherReader". I look forward to readng many of your reviews.
love this idea, and you wrapped into one clever post!! Can't wait to shall the love
I too signed up on Mother Reader's blog -- I hope we aren't hurting your feelings. Thanks for hosting this challenge!
Cool photos. Makes me long for summer.
My New Years resolution is to blog 3-5 times a week and really pay more attention to what other writers are saying. So this is a great way to accomplish my goal.
Thanks
I've giving it my best shot! You've had a great idea.
MR's blog got me to sign up, your link brought me here. Nice to find a fantastic new site for me!

Great initiative! I can't wait to find more interesting YA book blogs to comment on. Mine isn't a typical book blog, but hopefully I'm allowed to join in anyway :)
I'm enjoying this challenge! (And also, I love your blog! I've used it quite often as a resource in my job as a teen librarian.)
Thanks for your comments at my site, Lee,and for co-hosting the Challenge. It's absolutely bumping up my "visiting" energy in our online community...
Thanks for helping to create this cool idea. I'm all signed up and very excited. ;D
this is a great idea. i can't keep up with all the children's/YA lit stuff on my own - and the blogs are an excellent way to share resources and pick other people's brains.
This has nothing to do with the comment challenge, but if you haven't read SERENDIPITY MARKET, you must. I'm not going to tell you exactly why, and you'll have to read most of the book to discover the true reason (besides the fact that it's a really fun and magical and mystical book). Nuff said. See what you think.
I'm really enjoying this :o) and I'm actually getting comments on my blog. Wow! Makes one feel so special :o)
Thanks Lee, for helping me get me back on the BlogWagon!
Lee, we've done so well! Thanks for all your promoting in SCBWI and online. It's very exciting to have so many people signed up. It was also great timing to be starting as the same time as Bloggiesta because we've gotten quite a few crossover guests.
Wahoo!
Glad to be participating again - thanks, Lee, and Pam!
Okay, challenge accepted. Game on!
Fantastic idea. I just moved my blog and really need to get some traffic again! I miss comments! :)
