Sprout

By Dale Peck

Daniel "Sprout" Bradford is OUT in small-town Kansas.

He's gay. His father drinks. His mom is dead. Oh, and his hair is dyed green - hence his nickname "Sprout."

But the rest of it? The teacher, the essay contest, the secret... Sprout's pretty much got to figure it all out on his own...

Loved this book! Grabs you from the first page and keeps your attention until the end. It's a great book for inspiring writers to read and study to learn about "voice."

One of the best queer books I read last year. We tried getting Peck to come to my store during Pride - he, unfortunately, refuses to fly & didn't have the time to drive :-(

This sounds like a great book. I'll add it to my extensive list. :)

High school students in the GSA at the local high school really enjoyed this when I recommended it to them! It didn't fly off the shelves of my bookstore, but handing it to the right kid made all the difference. Can't wait to read what's next!
