Sometimes It's Nice When Someone ELSE Says What Needs To Be Said: Keith Olbermann Comments on Prop 8

Thank you, Keith.

The fact that you care so deeply, so passionately, about MY rights makes me proud of you and all the straight allies of our civil rights movement.

We have quite a fight ahead of us. I'm glad you're on our side. I'm glad you're on the side of LOVE. (And if that's corny, well, so be it.)

The video is from his show, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC.

"In a time of impermanence and fly-by-night relationships ..."

What an amazing statement. Thanks for sharing.

Oberman's style usually isn't my cup of tea, but he just scored BIG with this one. Wow! His extended family just became huge.

I want to broadcast this on the sides of buildings for everyone to watch, especially the filth-spewing people whose table I sat next to at lunch the other day, and had to physically restrain myself from getting up and dumping their food in their laps. Thanks, Lee.

WOW. Thank you for sharing this fabulous commentary. I guess I've sheltered myself so much from TV that I have no idea of who's saying what, but not having any idea who Keith Olbermann is, and seeing him dressed & looking extremely conservative and businesslike, this extremely heartfelt appeal to the humanity of all listening really took me by surprise. It gives me hope.

That was pretty amazing and he used my own number one question to people who are against gay marriage, namely "I do not understand. Why does this matter to you? What is it to you?"

It makes no sense to me that people feel the need to go out of their way to deny other people rights when the result won't effect them at all.

I mean, I can see it happening in apathy. Maybe you're not going to get the straight community to fight for gay marriage with vigor. But when all it comes down to is checking one box or another, it's crazy that so many people check the box that hurts other people.

This one of the best Keith Oberman commnets I have heard. Spot on with the "do unto others..." and the emphasis on love. Hang in there.

this is the best argument about prop 8 I have heard. While hearing my favorite youtubers, bloggers, and friend state why they are upset on what our country has chosen for same sex couples I feel every sceptical person should watch this. While I know not everyone will ever except gay marriage, maybe this will open a few people's eyes. Equality is totally needed in this country and right now I don't feel like we have reached it. As Oberman points out this is just as bad as any other kind of prejudice, obviously we would never put up with slavery these days, why do we put up with this prevention of LOVE!
