GSA Mondays Topic: Black President? Check. Gay President?
Well, what do you think?
Will we see a Gay President of the United States in our lifetimes?
We've gotten to a point where President-Elect Barack Obama, tomorrow, upon his inauguration, will be the first multi-racial, Black President of our country.
So when will we get our first Gay President? 2041? Before? Much Later?
Hmmm....
Maybe it will be some Teenager reading this blog?
Just that thought is going to keep me smiling all week!
Namaste,
Lee
ps- Oh, and for those readers in the USA, happy Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! What a way to celebrate, with inaugurating President Obama!

I'm waiting for the time when having a black president, or a gay one, or a woman, just won't be worthy of comment.
That must be in my lifetime, surely?
Despite David Levithan's awesome imagining of such an event, I don't see it happening in (at least) my lifetime. Prop 8 demonstrated that there's still a lot of hate and confusion that needs to be overcome before it can happen.
But I relish the idea and think it WILL happen some day.
How about a Jewish President?? A Gay Jewish President??
I am pleased to be able to witness another ceiling shattered, but can always wish for more.

Hi Everyone - Brian F. is talking about this book,
http://www.leewind.org/2008/06/wide-awake.html
"Wide Awake" by David Levithan!
Check it out!
Namaste,
Lee
I sure hope we see a day where it doesn't matter what orientation, gender, or ethnicity our president has.
Wide Awake was awesome and I hope books like that inspire a whole generation of young people to dream big.
We can dream! And lately it seems like dreams are coming true.
